Since 1874, in the heart of the Maipo valley, Viña Tarapacá has been crafting unique wines of outstanding quality. These estate bottled wines earned their first award in the US in 1876, and have been obtaining awards ever since.
Each year the distinguished wine critic, Patricio Tapia, and his team compile the Descorchados guide, a wine publication that highlights the best of the Chilean industry.
For this edition over 1,800 wines were sampled from national wineries. Of all those, Viña Tarapacá performed incredibly well across its ample portfolio.
Amongst the wines that stood out was an outstanding 93 points for Gran Reserva Black Label 2013, showing consistency in terms of excellence and quality.
Gran Reserva Blue Label 2013, Gran Reserva Carmenère 2014 and Sauvignon Blanc 2015, all continued this trend with 92 points.
Concluding the acknowledgments of the traditional winery, the 2014 Gran Reserva Pinot Noir scored 91 points and Chardonnay 2015 received 90 points.
The guide has gradually been receiving international acknowledgement and has expanded its distribution, currently reaching the USA, Brazil, Mexico and China, in their respective languages.
