Gran Reserva Tarapacá Etiqueta Azul 2016 excels with 91 points in Decanter
The prestigious British magazine, Decanter, has released its latest report entitled “Premium South American Red Blends: Panel tasting results”. The article evaluated one of the wines from Viña Tarapacá –a winery with over 140 years’ history– with 91 points.
In January, the panel of experts comprised of Peter Richards, Dirceu Vianna Junior and Paz Levinson, tasted over 95 wines from the finest wineries in Chile and Argentina, then selected the finest 29 red blends from the southern cone.
On this occasion, Gran Reserva Tarapacá Etiqueta Azul 2016 –a top-end Red Blend– received an outstanding 91 points from the specialists, who described it as follows:
“Expressive. Ripe dark stewed fruits with a touch of mint. It displays aromas of cassis, cherries and blackberries as well as floral notes and a hint of leafiness. Lots of wine here.”
Meanwhile, Paz Levinson specially commented on the Maipo and Cachapoal Valleys, noting that these areas had performed best in this latest tasting, and one of these regions is the cradle for Gran Reserva Tarapacá Etiqueta Azul 2016.
This outstanding acknowledgement once again demonstrates the exceptional quality of wines which are supported by a great sense of tradition, from a winery with over 140 years of tradition.
