Viña Tarapacá achieves First Place in the Chardonnay Category at the Wines of Chile Sommelier Challenge 2015
For the fifth year in a row, the event organized by Wines of Chile brought together important sommeliers from the British wine industry with an aim to choosing “wines that they would be happy to see on their wine list”.
Of the 120 Chilean wines classified by grape variety, Ronan Sayburn (MS) and Martin Lam (wine consultant) made a shortlist of 70 wines which were selected because they were capable of performing well in restaurants.
Afterwards, the panel was made to blind-taste the wines alongside other international origins, in order to choose the best representative of each variety. Amongst those, Viña Tarapacá achieved First Place in Chardonnay with its Gran Reserva Tarapacá Chardonnay 2014 from the Leyda Valley.
It should be noted that it outclassed wines which came from renowned origins such as Hawkes Bay in New Zealand, Margaret River in Australia and our compatriots from Limarí and Casablanca.
