Since 1874, in the heart of the Maipo valley, Viña Tarapacá has been crafting unique wines of outstanding quality. These estate bottled wines earned their first award in the US in 1876, and have been obtaining awards ever since.
At the beginning of February, the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2015 took place in the city of Tokyo, Japan.
Launched last year, the Japanese competition brought together 280 feminine judges, comprised of the country’s most distinguished women in the trade, such as importer owners, sommeliers, wine critics and journalists.
Within the competing wines entries from 29 countries this year, the 2012 Gran Reserva Carmenére from Viña Tarapacá was awarded Gold Medal, standing out amongst the 249 wines that were sampled from our country.
Additionally, the 2013 Chardonnay and the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from the acclaimed Gran Reserva range, were awarded Silver Medal.
The official award ceremony for the best wines in each category, and the best scores, will take place on the 3rd of March at the 2015 FOODEX JAPAN global arena, the biggest food and wine exhibition in the country.
