Since 1874, in the heart of the Maipo valley, Viña Tarapacá has been crafting unique wines of outstanding quality. These estate bottled wines earned their first award in the US in 1876, and have been obtaining awards ever since.
October 2012.-The most prestigious wine guide in Chile, “Descorchados”, written by the
journalist and trade writer Patricio Tapia, just announced the results of their 2013 edition, which will be published next December.
To start, the highest score earned was 93 points, awarded to the 2010 Tarapacá Gran ReservaEtiquetaNegra Cabernet Sauvignon,from the Maipo Valley. The 2010 vintage of the winery’s icon wine, Tara.Pakay, also originating from the Maipo Valley, was awarded92 points.
The 2012 Tarapacá Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc, from theLeyda Valley, obtained 91 points; and to conclude, the 2011 Tarapacá Gran Reserva Carménère,from theMaipo Valley, obtained 90 points.
It is worth noting that three of the afore mentioned wines come from the Maipo Valley, considered one of the best and most traditional wine regions for the production of fine wines.
