Since 1874, in the heart of the Maipo valley, Viña Tarapacá has been crafting unique wines of outstanding quality. These estate bottled wines earned their first award in the US in 1876, and have been obtaining awards ever since.
Sebastián Ruiz, who has work as chief winemaker of Misiones de Rengo since 2011 and simultaneously as winemaker in Argentinian wineries of VSPT Wine Group since 2012, has assumed the challenge of becoming Chief Winemaker of Viña Tarapacá.
During his career in our Group, Ruiz has excelled with Misiones de Rengo, the # 1wine brand sold in Chile, and for obtaining successful scores in international media with Finca La Celia and its Argentinian malbecs: 93 points with Heritage 2008 and 92 points with Heritage 2011 in Wine Advocate, and 92 points with Pioneer 2012 in October’s edition of Decanter magazine.
“Being chief winemaker of Viña Tarapacá is clearly a big challenge. It is a recognized and valued for its enological excellence, and my goal is to continue consolidating Viña Tarapacá as leader in elaboration of its Gran Reserva line” notes Sebastián Ruiz.
We hope that this positive change, guides Viña Tarapaca to new challenges and successful results lead by Sebastian’s charisma and conviction.
