Gran Reserva Blend Series #2
D.O.: Maipo Valley
31% Cabernet Franc, 26% Syarh, 22% Carmenère, 11% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
Blend Series #2 is the second installment of the limited edition series that blends the best varieties from the most privileged soils of our Fundo Tarapacá.
The components of this wine come from 3 types of soils: "Piedmont" (Syrah and Cabernet Franc), "El Ciruelo" (Merlot) and "Mansel" (Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère). The "Piedmont" are volcanic soils, rich in minerals, resulting from the erosion of the Acúleo hill. Thanks to its texture and abundance of angular stones, the roots of the vines explore freely, giving the wine good acidity, depth and rich tannins. The "Ciruelo" comes from an ancient alluvial terrace and "Mansel" is a soil abundant in red clay that contributes to the concentration of flavors and ripe tannins.
Bright ruby red in color, it is intense and fresh. It expresses aromas of blackberry and cassis along with subtle notes of red fruit such as strawberries and plums, combined with spicy hints of black pepper and cinnamon. Aging in French and American oak barrels for 12 months delivers aromas of vanilla, cedar and chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, structured tannins. It is balanced and of good length.
